Happy 11th!!

"Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn."

On this day 11 years ago, Michael Eisner gave the dedication speech for the opening of the first theme park of its kind... Disney's Animal Kingdom. Originally planned to have three themed lands of animals of present, extinct and mythical... But on opening it had the real and extinct, not mythical... I am sure that you know the story of Beastly Kingdomme so i wont bore you with the same story... But today the park consists of Oasis, Discovery Island, Camp Minnie Mickey, Africa, Asia, and Dinoland USA. Discovery Island was named Safari Village when opened in 1998, but many people confused it with Africa so they renamed it to relieve some of the confusion. Disney's Animal Kingdom like many other DIsney theme parks has several acclaimed and popular attractions such as Festival of the Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, and Expedition Everest.... Celebrating the big one zero last year a huge event was held with many important people in Disney's ANimal Kingdom history, such as Joe Rhode...
Today we present to you several pins through the history of Disney's Animal Kingdom....

These two commorate the opening of the park ...
Here is a comparison of two pin logos used...

This pin was used to commerorate the 1st anniversary of Disneys' Animal Kingdom...

These two pins commorate the 5th anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2003...

Coming Soon to GDPinvestigation are a few things.... Starting within the next couple of days we will start our series on Main Street Electiral Parade.. you chose so we research... Also, next Friday, May 1 will feature the 20th Anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios (formally known as Disney's MGM- Studios)... so Stay tuned....

  1. I have a giant magnet in the shape of the "98" like you show here. I actually got to visit the park a full month before it opened, on March 23, 1998. I remember noting how amazingly detailed everything was. Lots of people don't slow down enough to really soak it all in and miss all of the detail in the buildings, streets, signs, etc...
